Alpacas use communal dung piles around the grazing paddocks, making it easy to collect the beans for fertilizer. Our alpacas Larry and Derp are rotational grazing in our unsprayed pastures among our Icelandic sheep.
Alpaca manure is an ideal plant fertilizer because of its carbon to nitrogen ratio. There is no need to age it and alpacas do not carry E. Coli 157. Making a compost tea from alpaca beans for your indoor or outdoor plants is easy, safe, not smelly, and will help your plants thrive!
Alpaca Bean Compost Tea Recipe:
Combine 1 cup of alpaca beans with 1 gallon of warm water in a lidded container. Let it steep for 24 hours, or in the sun for 12 hours, until it's a rich color. Strain the mixture and pour the liquid around the base of plants. Use the strained beans around outdoor plants.
Each quart size bag will make about 3 gallons of tea
*Please note that bags are freshly collected and might require slightly longer processing time than prepared products
